Biography

The Last Caboose – ‘Northern Country’

Formed in and around Manchester 2024, The Last Caboose are:

Ruth Swift – Lead Vocals

Carol Donaldson – Piano and Vocals

Phil Duncan – Double Bass

Simon Greenhalgh – Percussion and Vocals

Mick Pullan – Guitar

The original intent was to bring to life a collection of songs that had been lying around, waiting for their time to come. The only stipulation – to bring out the best in the song by taking a simple approach and keeping an acoustic feel.

Although not setting out to consciously adopt a particular style, the resulting sounds touch on elements of Country, Folk, Americana and classic pop. Original songs packed with hooks and melody tell tales of travel and escape; remote wildernesses and the downtown hometown (all accessible by train).

Having spent time playing these songs live (gigs may also see the occasional cover of songs by artists such as Edwyn Collins; The Psychedelic Furs; and The Pogues performed in the Caboose style) The Last Caboose completed their first studio recordings at the Lancashire ‘Studio Studio’. This resulted in the release of The Shadow Of The Wind EP by Half Edge Records in October 2025.
